EVO GRIP™ – Variable heavy-duty connector

Standard and Solo for enhanced strength
With the EVO GRIP, Knapp has launched a main/secondary beam connector for medium to extremely high loads (150kN to 1000kN). The variable heavy-duty connector combines two identical connector plates made of high-strength aluminum with ridges on the back for an even better grip.
The ridges press into the wood and form a tight connection with it. This increases the load-bearing capacity of the connection by up to 40%, while reducing the number of required screws and their dimensions.
The width and height of the connector, which is suitable for wood-to-wood, wood-to-concrete, and wood-to-steel connections, can be parametrically adapted to the beam widths and the required load-bearing capacities and fire protection requirements. The hole patterns can also be specified variably depending on the requirements. The standard hole pattern ensures an optimal distribution of screws for medium loads. A maximum number of angled screw connections enables extreme load-bearing capacities.
Compared to conventional connectors, smaller connector sizes can be used with the same load-bearing capacity, which results in a higher timber cover and thus increases fire protection. In addition, this generally allows the use of smaller beam cross-sections.
The standard version of the EVO GRIP serves as a conventional beam hanger for extreme loads, featuring a short hook-in way and sufficient tolerance for easy installation. Additionally, this beam hanger includes lateral load reinforcement.
The EVO GRIP is also available as a solo variant with an articulated connection, especially for high beams that bend under load. The optimized arrangement of the screws means that there is no need for transverse tension reinforcement.
The EVO GRIP has already been utilized as a wall-ceiling connector at the Lignotrend sawmill in Ibach, demonstrating its performance capabilities.
