TUCK Spring steel dowels

TUCK Spring steel dowels

Immediately load bearing dowel for gluing without aid.

The TUCK is a spring steel dowel. It is available in five sizes (Ø 6 mm x 25 mm, Ø 8 mm x 35 mm, Ø 10 mm x 32 mm, Ø 10 mm x 28 mm and Ø 10 mm x 16 mm) and processed like a conventional wooden dowel. Like all KNAPP Connectors, the TUCK is self-tightening and no clamps aid is required when assembling the work piece (cabinet, furniture, interior design, etc.) The spring steel guarantees a permanent tightening. The processing can be done with a dowel-boring machine or with a CNC machining center. Due to the elimination of the usual clamping aids, the productivity of the gluing of work pieces (cabinets) can also be drastically increased even in smaller manufacturies. Also in industrial furniture manufacturing, the production time per work piece can be considerably reduced.

Processing:

The TUCK connector is processed like a conventional wooden dowel. Make dowel holes as usual on a drilling machine or a CNC surface drill. Then insert the dowel into the surface (not into the edge) of the work pieces. Brush the edges as usual with glue and then put the parts together. Assemble the components with a rubber hammer on the surface, but not necessarily from above against an abutment; it is better to hit the surface from below and use the self-suspension of the material – this way the parts connect very fast. In the case of very large work pieces, a clamping aid might be needed – but it is not necessary to wait for the complete hardening of the glue. Once the desired end position has been reached, the clamping aid can be removed immediately.
