Prefab home completed in only five months
Fast Timber Frame Construction with KNAPP WALCO® V Wall Connectors
Built quickly, planned for the long term: This single-family home in Slovenia initially serves as a holiday residence for a couple from Munich, but it is intended to become their permanent home in the future. To ensure a stress-free construction process, the couple commissioned prefabricated house manufacturer Marles to deliver the project on a turnkey basis. Thanks to the company’s in-house WoodSpan technology for spans exceeding six meters, combined with the WALCO® V80 and WALCO® VK wall connectors, the barrier-free timber-frame house was completed in just five months. Marles uses the WALCO® connector both for wall extensions and 90° wall-to-wall connections and is convinced of its advantages:

The optimized connection of the wall elements, together with the strategic selection of wood species, enabled large spans and a flexible floor-plan design, giving the homeowners complete freedom in configuring their living space. The entrance area, protected by a large roof overhang, leads directly into a hallway with a cloakroom and guest WC. The heart of the home is the open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area. In addition, the barrier-free residence offers three bedrooms, a utility room, and a spacious bathroom with both a bathtub and a shower.
To ensure rapid construction, the building components, including the windows, were already fitted with WALCO® wall connectors during the prefabrication stage. The system, consisting of collar screws, retaining screws, and connector plates with an integrated receiving funnel, allows installation without any additional screw work on site. The wall elements are simply put together together and locked by means of an integrated locking clip. Joints and construction tolerances can easily be adjusted, while the structure achieves high stability from the very first wall corner. Homeowner Marija Diepold is extremely satisfied with the result:

The wall assemblies were completely prefabricated in the factory. Thanks to the WALCO® V wall connectors, the finished elements can be installed within a very short time. The retaining screws only need to be hooked into place.
